If you suffer from pustular psoriasis you will usually get outbreaks of white pus filled blisters, that are surrounded by red skin. These pustules are not contagious, and they are not regarded as an infection. This specific type of psoriasis is usually found in adults and tends to be localized to a particular area of the body.

The triggers for this type of psoriasis will include certain topical medications or internal medications. Excess exposure to UV light or pregnancy can be triggers. If you have to take steroids for an extended period of time you may suffer from an outbreak of pustular psoriasis. Emotional stress is also a big factor in this type of outbreak.

There are different types of pustular psoriasis. The most serious form is called Von Zumbusch. This type is life threatening and requires hospitalization. Certain topical medications have been used with some success. Your doctor may want to try specific oral medications to clear up the lesions.

The treatment for pustular psoriasis will depend on the type that you have. It is important that you visit your doctor at the first sign of an outbreak. The sooner you start treatment the better your outcome will be. Each individual may respond differently to each type of treatment.
